Timmins Returns to Bulls

Timmins currently plays for the Sydney Kings

The Franklin Bulls would like to announce the signing of centre, Sam Timmins to the roster for SalsNBL 2024.

It's been 4 years since the Timmins suited up for the Bulls. In 2020 the big-man signed his first pro contract with the club; the team was entered into the league for the first time that same season. Timmins' had a great first season during the covid affected SalsNBL Showdown, averaging nearly 16 points, 10 rebounds and over a block a game and helped the young Bulls squad reach the playoffs.

After the showdown Timmins decided to return to his childhood home in Otago for the SalsNBL and stayed there for three seasons. In that time he led his team to a SalsNBL title in 2022 and a semi-final berth in 2023.

Sam headlines the Bulls 2020 Showdown squad

Bulls co-founder and the General Manager who recruited Sam in 2020, Jamie Reddish says it's great to have Sam back in the squad and to reunite with 2020 team mate Isaac Davidson.

"Sam came to us a rookie and has produced some incredible performances since he joined the league. We are excited to have Sam back in the white, yellow and black to represent South Auckland, Franklin the North Waikato again. We know our fans will be stoked."

Since his time with the Bulls, Timmins not only helped his team (Nuggets) to a championship in 2022, but also was awarded the "Most Outstanding Kiwi Forward" and the "Most Outstanding Forward" (including imports), the "Most Improved Player" and led the league in rebounds in 2021. He was also selected in the "All-Star Five". In 2020 he was the league blocks leader for the SalsNBL Showdown, playing for the Bulls.

Head Coach Sebastian Gleim knows how important Timmins will be the Bulls 2024 squad.

"Sam is an experienced player in an important position for the 2024 squad. He is a real big man with a hunger to get better. We know he'll bring a new dynamic to the team. He's already played for the Franklin Bulls and we are excited to welcome him back."

Co-founder Scott Kelso says the fans will finally get to see Sam suit up for the club at home at the Stockyard.

"Sam is known around our community, especially with some of our die-hard fans. I know they'll welcome him back with open arms and we can't wait to see him play for us, at home at the stockyard... Just like it was supposed to happen in 2020".

The Tall Black big man is currently with the Australian NBL club the Sydney Kings and will to return Auckland after the ANBL season has finished near the start of SalsNBL 2024.
