Thompson has eyes set on giving fans "wins" for second season

The EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls are pleased to announce that Jett Thompson is returning to the team for the 2022 Sal’s NBL season.

Thompson played for the Bulls in the 2021 season and was elevated to the starting point guard role midway through the season as the Bulls were ravaged by injuries. The 18 year old took advantage of the opportunity; averaging 6.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists across his 10 games as a starter for the Bulls last year.

Jett is another Auckland local who represented Harbour Basketball, Westlake Boys High School and played for the NZ U15 team in his junior career.

For Thompson, returning to the Bulls for a second year was a no-brainer, saying “the community is great. The fans supported us last year no matter what the scoreboard said, so hopefully we can give them the wins they deserve this year.”

“Coach Maskell has coached me since I was 14. I’ve played around the world with him on the NZ U15 team too. He’s always believed in me and there’s a lot of trust there. The amount of work he puts in to help players to become better, it was just a no-brainer for me to play under him again,” said Thompson.

Head Coach Morgan Maskell shares the same sentiments, saying “Jett has always achieved highly simply because he works so hard. His work ethic and passion for improvement is infectious and he is the exact type of player we want on this team.”

Thompson joins Denhym Brooke, Anzac Rissetto, Kane Bennett-Keil, Jayden Bezzant, and Josh Leger on the roster so far for the 2022 EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls.
