The Franklin Bulls are excited to announce the signing of young guard Taiapua Pakaurangi from Rotorua as a new addition to the roster for the upcoming 2026 Sal’s National Basketball League (NBL) season.

Pakaurangi, a dynamic and explosive guard, has quickly established himself as one of New Zealand’s top emerging talents. He recently dominated the Zone 2 Regionals, leading all scorers with an impressive 23.8 points per game while captaining Ruamata Basketball to qualification for the AA Secondary Schools Nationals (a single A school). Has also earned MVP at the 2024 Boys Single A Nationals!

"Tai was spotted by Bulls coaches years ago when he was a young emerging player. His ability to create, his explosiveness, IQ and his skill as a guard is developing as expected. We are excited to see him take his next step in the NBL". Says GM Jamie Reddish.

“Tai brings exactly the kind of skill, athleticism and work ethic we’re looking for in our young Kiwi talent. His drive to be here and commit to living and working in Pukekohe makes him an outstanding fit for our culture. We can’t wait to see him thrive at The Stockyard.” Head Coach Dan Ryan.

“Signing a talented young player like Tai who is genuinely committed to our community is a big win for the Bulls. It reinforces our focus on building sustainable pathways and creating a true home for our players.” "Add Jamie Reddish

Pakaurangi has already been with the Bulls training academy since November last year. He is also playing in the Franklin U20s who just won the Auckland U20 Supercity competition to qualify as the top Auckland seed for Nationals.

You can see Tai play live from April 16 at the Stockyard! Memberships available until April 11.
