The Franklin Bulls are thrilled to announce the return of forward Kenechukwu "KC" Nwafor for the 2026 Sal's NBL season. The 6'8" (202cm) Nigerian-born talent, has been a key part of the Bulls' roster since 2023.

Nwafor arrived in New Zealand at the age of 16 in 2019 to pursue his basketball dreams. He joined Rotorua Boys High School, where he quickly made an impact. Prior to his professional career, Nwafor also played for the Waikato region and also was a regular invitee to New Zealand camps.

Since joining the Franklin Bulls in 2023 as a development player (DP), Nwafor has navigated challenges related to his initial import status, which limited his playing time due to league restrictions on foreign players (only three imports per team). In 2025, with special approval from the NBL, Nwafor transitioned to local player status, allowing him greater opportunities on the court.

During the 2025 season, Nwafor appeared in 14 games for the Bulls, averaging 2.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game while shooting 53.3% from the field. He was also a key figure in the Oilhub.co.nz Rapid League Bulls team, averaging 6.2 points and lead the Rapid League with 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

"KC's development is exponential. He has all the physical tools to develop into a top level player. We are excited for him in 2026 as he will player a larger role in the team as one of the back up big men. I can't wait for KC to take the next step this year" Bulls GM, Jamie Reddish.

"KC is an athletic forward with great rebounding, shot blocking, and finishing ability. He is set to have his biggest year yet as a Bull. We are so excited to have KC back with us in Franklin this season! Head Coach Dan Ryan

For the 2026 season, the Bulls' schedule includes key matchups, with the first home game against the Southland Sharks on April 16.
