Matt Freeman is Back for Bulls

The Franklin Bulls are thrilled to announce the return of Matt Freeman for the 2026 Sal's NBL season. The 6'10 power forward from Auckland will rejoin the team, marking his first appearance with the Bulls since the 2023 season.
Freeman originally signed with the Franklin Bulls in 2021 but was sidelined by injury and instead contributing as support staff and mentoring younger players. He made his on-court debut for the Bulls in 2023, appearing in 10 games and averaging 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
After a standout college career—starting at the University of Oklahoma (2016–2019) before transferring to UC Santa Barbara for his senior year (2019–20), Freeman embarked on a successful professional journey in Europe. He began with Gladiators Trier in Germany's ProA league followed by PS Karlsruhe Lions and Eisbären Bremerhaven. He also played for SCM U Craiova in Romania's Liga Națională and most recently with Budapesti Honvéd SE in Hungary's A Division.
Internationally, Freeman has represented New Zealand at youth levels, competing in the 2013 FIBA Oceania U16 Championship and 2014 FIBA Oceania U18 Championship. Notably, he was part of the New Zealand team that won gold at the 2015 FIBA Under-18 3x3 World Championship in Hungary.
