Local guard joins Bulls for second season

The Franklin Bulls are pleased to announce the re-signing of talented young Waikato guard Hunter Savill for the 2026 Sal's NZNBL season. This marks Savill’s second year with the club after making his NZNBL debut in 2025.
Savill stood out at the U18 Nationals in 2025, where he averaged 23.8 points per game (4th highest scorer in the tournament) while representing Waikato, including a standout 40-point performance. He has also been selected for Junior Tall Blacks team who will compete this month at the Albert Schweitzer tournament in Germany.
The St Johns College, Waikato representative returns after a development season in the 2025 SalsNBL season where he Debuted vs the Wellington Saints in Wellington.
“Hunter is a talented young point guard. We are really excited to help him take the next step in his basketball career. He is a diligent worker who will look to make a big jump in his game this season. Says Head Coach Dan Ryan”

The Franklin Bulls, based in Pukekohe and representing the broader South Auckland and the North Waikato region, will begin the 2026 Sal's NZNBL season on April 11 with the first home game on April 16. Fans can look forward to watching Savill’s continued development.
