The Property Brokers Manawatū Jets returned to the winner’s circle on Wednesday night with an impressive road victory over the Franklin Bulls in Pukekohe.

New import Isiah Small opened the scoring in his debut before the Jets exploded with a 16-0 first quarter run, fuelled by perimeter shooting from Kaden Sand, Jamal Poplar Jr., Dontae Heather, and Kazlo Evans Jr. The early surge helped Manawatū build a 15 point lead at quarter time.

Franklin responded through Jace Carter, Kael Robinson, and Carter Whitt, who sparked a third quarter comeback as the Bulls cut the deficit to just one point heading into the fourth.

But with the game in the balance, the Jets delivered the decisive response. A strong start to the final quarter restored control before Sand took over late, scoring 14 fourth quarter points to help Manawatū close out an important win on the road.

The Property Brokers Manawatū Jets and Franklin Bulls battled through a defensive Rapid League contest on Wednesday night, with neither side able to fully break away in a tightly contested matchup.

The Jets made the stronger start, using aggressive attacking play to build a 14-8 first quarter advantage. Franklin gradually settled into the game in the second period, with key defensive rebounds from Biggar and Tai Pakaurangi helping the Bulls close the gap to just one point at halftime.

Scoring became difficult for both sides in the third quarter as defensive pressure increased and shot making dried up, though Franklin managed to edge ahead 27-25 heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter followed a similar pattern with both teams struggling to convert opportunities in a low scoring finish. With momentum swinging both ways throughout the closing stages, the result remained in the balance until the final moments in a game defined by defensive intensity.
