The Wellington Saints have handed the EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls their biggest loss of the SalsNBL season after 109-82 result at TSB Bank Arena in Wellington Thursday night.
The league-leading Saints flexed their muscles in a dominant performance as they largely kept star imports Josh Selby and Zane Waterman quiet and dominated the glass to keep intact their unbeaten start to the season.
The 11-time champions were able to score at will and look to be the cream of the SalsNBL this season.
The Bulls fall to 3-3 as a result and will need to bounce back quickly as they take on the Canterbury Rams in Christchurch on Saturday.
Selby had 16 points and four assists before fouling out mid-way through the fourth quarter with a technical foul and an unsportsmanlike foul. It capped off a frustrating night for the former NBA player and his American import teammate Waterman, who were not on the same page as the officials for most of the night.
Dane Brooks was a highlight for coach Jamie Reddish – s
coring 16 points, three steals and a pair of blocks as well as providing a couple of highlight reel plays.
